Hours of work

37.5 hours per week (hours of work will be flexible and dictated by the needs of the business, therefore it is expected that the successful applicant will work those hours necessary to successfully discharge the duties of the role).

The Role

Overview

To lead, support and motivate a team of MI developers providing new innovative and reliable MI and data sets as well as servicing the existing suite of reports. To be responsible for and to oversee the delivery of tickets within your team in addition to being responsible for coaching the team collectively and individually to ensure standards are met and deliveries are timely and accurate.

Key Outputs

  • Lead and manage a team of Mi Developers;
  • Lead, support, mentor and coach the team to ensure delivery of tickets in line with the business - in particular to be responsible for the team’s performance with regards: -
  • Managing the team workload to ensure the department is within SLAs
  • Escalation point for queries
  • Oversight of the team functions and ability to manage/prioritise workload accordingly
  • Performing pre-development reviews of work to spot efficiencies missed and coach better ways of working
  • Supporting the team in acquiring knowledge and providing expert technical advice through peer reviews.
  • Conduct ticket audits to quality check the team performance in line with our quality assurance guide, ensuring feedback is acted upon through coaching to achieve optimum performance and improve process adherence
  • Assist senior managers with work prioritisation and planning
  • Develop, maintain and enhance Management Information and reporting, using current and new technologies.
  • Identification of individual and team training needs and implementation of appropriate training solutions, carrying out reviews and follow up activity to ensure training has been effective. Participating in the delivery of training courses as required, and be an effective coach and mentor to the team
  • Lead and motivate the team to promote and maintain a productive and harmonious team environment, participating in the identification, planning and implementation of team incentives to drive performance and maintain team morale
  • Supporting in third party meetings as required
  • Own and be responsible for delivering exceptional customer services levels for the team’s part in external stakeholder engagement, identifying and taking forward areas of improvement specific to MI
  • Managing resourcing and attendance levels to ensure optimum staffing levels at all times, supporting and developing recruitment campaigns, including leading interviews and selection campaigns
  • Conducting formal appraisal meetings to identify, support and implement individual development plans. Drive performance and KPI’s through monthly 1 to 1 meetings and formal performance management counselling as necessary.
  • Manage staff relationships, promptly respond to queries and manage expectations and ensure all HR matters are handled fairly and consistently in line with legal and company requirements to include disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence matters. Work closely with the HR Team to promote consistent business processes and procedures in line with current legislation and best practice
  • Working with senior Managers to identify, devise and highlight areas for improvement in systems, processes and procedures, communicating and implementing and training out changes to the team, and take responsibility for ad hoc projects as requested.

Skills & Experience

Mandatory

  • 3+ years' experience working with an MI stack including but not limited to; SQL server, SSRS, Git, DevOps/ Jira or similar
  • 3+ years' experience of managing a team and driving performance through coaching methods and an ability to analyse performance of a team or individual and implement appropriate changes to ensure improvement
  • Experience working in a role demonstrative of:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Quality focus with an eye for detail.
  • Logical thinking and the ability to produce imaginative solutions to process or procedural problems.
  • Being adaptable and resilient to changing needs and priorities.
  • High self-motivation and self-starting abilities.
